Youth MOVE Downtown

What is Youth MOVE (YM) Downtown?

Youth MOVE Downtown is a group for teens ages to practice mental health advocacy and provide peer emotional support to one another. Together we access mental wellness resources and participate in activities that destigmatize mental health challenges.

Youth MOVE is teen-driven: meaning that the group structure, topics covered, and activities are influenced by, or decided by the teens who attend the group. It is facilitated by our staff who are trained in Mental Health First Aid and as CRM(Community Resiliency Model) facilitators. Youth MOVE programming regularly teaches CRM coping skills and helps students to identify support and resources in order to gain skills to access help in times of need.

In this wellness group, teens participate in a variety of activities and discussions related to mental health education and destigmatization. Topics covered include interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, stress management, school/work, life transitions, and resilience. Activities include group discussions, community building activties, videos, articles, art, meditation and more.
